Brief History
Soft Edge Services (formerly named Software Enterprise Systems)was founded in the mid 1990s. One of our key projects was SMART ChemWorks, created under contract to the Electric Power Research Institute to monitor electric power plant water chemistry. The software used sophisticated models to predict chemistry under extreme temperatures and pressures in tiny steam generator crevices. The founder of SES won a prestigious R&D 100 award for the development of this technology which was an early version of predictive modelling.
The company was put on hold between 2008 and 2014 when Gary joined the Dow Chemical Company to work in R&D IT technologies. Gary retired in 2014, holding the position of Director of R&D IT (ITDA) for Dow Agrosciences. ITDA was a team of over 100 software developers and support staff engaged in cutting-edge IT projects to advance various R&D projects.
Following retirement, Gary returned to his roots as a software developer and took on several projects focused on websites with significant business backend workflows. These included a HOA with over 600 members and a Sportsman’s Club with over 200 members. These websites were used to track members, send bulk emails, schedule events and complete forms online, etc. Recently Gary has begun a new project with a mortgage banking business to introduce major automation into the process of loan refinances.
